Antique solitaire button with detachable shank which joins with a spring mechanism. The top is decorated with a detailed etched design of flowers and leaves on a textured background. Looks like a silver top but unmarked and untested. It is joined to the back with a separate rim, with slightly raised edge and this part is silver plated as the plating has worn from the rim. Brass back, backstamped WEST’S PATENT with the GW monogram.
