Antique silver button featuring the mythical goddess Diana, seated among trees, with her hunting dogs, bow in her hand and quiver of arrows at her feet. Full English hallmarks: lion for sterling silver, wheatsheaves for Chester, and date letter “B” for 1902. There are also maker’s initials but these are not clear. Pretty scrolly rim, flat back, and loop shank. A lovely collectable, with intricate detailing and a beautiful patina.

Charming 19th century picture button, known as “Old Dobbin” showing a horse’s head with his face poking over the fence. Possibly based on the poem by Alfred Noyes or another poem by Eliza Cook - both reflecting on the fate of old horses past their useful life. Stamped brass, two-piece construction with brass back and raised hump shank. Backstamped: AP&CIE, PARIS - SOLIDAIRE BTE SGDG. Lovely collectable.

Large Victorian celluloid button with dark green-brown celluloid shading to cream, pierced by a metal star flower in the centre, and embellished with a looped pressed metal ribbon border. Tight-top construction with black painted metal back and raised hump shank. Sadly, a couple of pieces of celluloid are missing, between the points of the central star (4 and 5 o’clock) - priced accordingly.
