Two-part construction, hollow inside, and air holes on the flat back, with a stud type shank. An unusual equestrian collectable.

Size 1.2” (3 cm) tall

Large black, painted silk covered button

Large vintage/antique fabric covered button, over a solid core. The black moire silk is painted with a wreath of white flowers tied with a pink bow. The button is embellished with a beaded border of tiny pink and silver glass beads. Fabric is gathered on the back. Possibly once a mourning button, but now a very pretty collectible - large statement piece.

Size 1.6” (4 cm)

Unusual, vintage, winged clasps, made of some kind of early hard plastic. Antique stud button with rustic portrait of a female figure in a hat, leaning pensively on her hand. The porcelain front is held in a gilt metal rim, and attached to a bone back and stud type shank. 18th century bone back
£12.50

Antique, late 18th century, button with grey-silver coloured metal top, probably pewter, which may once have had a bright silver tin coating. The delicate stamped design echoes the pattern on thread or ribbon wound buttons of the same period. The edge of the metal folds over the solid bone back. Four holes in the bone back would once have held catgut thread, which formed a shank to sew the button to a garment, but after 250 years, the catgut is missing. Still a rare collectable.
