Iridescent, pinky brown tone with dark natural shell on the back. Four-way metal box shank. A lovely collectable.

Good Victorian picture button, in high relief, with various hunting tropies - stag’s head, powder horn, dagger, bag, horn, etc. Looks like silverplated on copper. Sadly there is no shank - just a plain metal post. Possibly once a solitaire button(?) with missing back. Anyway, a nice image on the front and I hope someone creative can make use of this

Large Victorian picture button, known as The Prince Returns. Stamped lead/pewter image shows a winding road leading up to the castle, and a lone horseman riding up the road. Brown tinted metal background. Wide pierced brass border of hearts and fleur de lis surrounding the inner border which forms a raised rim around the central scene. Black painted metal back and loop shank. (Ref BBB Plate 165.3)

Lovely old passementerie button, with grey and beige cord woven and wound over silvery-grey silk floss, wound over a solid domed base. Flat back with the cords gathered on the back and secured with black thread, to use as a shank.

Large vintage button, with a black base and dome of clear lucite in the centre. The lucite has small pyramids cut out on the back, which seen from the front, give the appearance of white bubbles rising up. Flat back and metal loop shank.

Antique, late 18th century, button with grey-silver coloured metal top, probably pewter, which may once have had a bright silver tin coating. The delicate stamped design echoes the pattern on thread or ribbon wound buttons of the same period. The edge of the metal folds over the solid bone back. Four holes in the bone back would once have held catgut thread, which formed a shank to sew the button to a garment, but after 250 years, the catgut is missing. Still a rare collectable.
